Aid and Attendance Program
This is a special monthly pension that may be available to wartime veterans and their surviving spouses. While there are some qualifications based on income and healthcare needs, this financial assistance can often make the difference in being able to join the Woodlands' community.
Qualifying for Assistance
Aid and Attendance provides a monthly income for qualified applicants who demonstrate a regular need for the aid and attendance of a caregiver or the need to live in a protected environment such as assisted living because of physical or mental impairment.
The benefit is a monthly income for disabled or older veterans who have a low income, served during a period of war and who may have disabilities not connected to their active-duty service. The pension is based on the applicant's financial picture including household income as well as assets. The pension benefit is alo available to a surviving spouse.
Applying for Assistance
Woodlands staff have significant experience in helping residents apply for this benefit. They personally work through the details with the VA for qualified applicants looking to move to the Woodlands, and are experienced in getting approvals.
